INDIANAPOLIS — FFour GLIAC teams — Grand Valley State, Ferris State, Wayne State and Northern Michigan, — are among the field of 64 that will compete in the 2026 NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Championship, the NCAA Division II Women’s Committee announced late on Sunday evening.

GLIAC regular season and tournament champion Grand Valley State was awarded the Midwest Region’s No. 1 seed and will serve as hosts.

All Midwest Region first round games will be played on Friday, March 13 at the home of the Lakers, GVSU Fieldhouse Arena.

GVSU (30-1) will meet No. 8 seed Maryville (25-6) at 5 p.m. The Lakers, who enter the NCAA postseason riding a nine-game winning streak, lead the nation in scoring margin (28.2 ppg).

Ferris State (26-6), the No. 2 seed, will face No. 7 UMSL (21-9) at 2:30 p.m.

Wayne State (23-7) earned the No. 4 seed and will square off with fifth-seeded Northern Michigan (25-7) at 7:30 p.m. The Warriors and the Wildcats split their regular season series, with each winning at home.

The regional semifinals will take place on Saturday, March 14, with the championship game set for Monday, March 16.

The eight regional champions advancing to the Women’s Elite Eight will be seeded by the Women’s Basketball Committee after completion of the regionals.
