From coffee to cocktails: Check out these 8 business updates in East Austin

Check out these businesses that are now open, coming soon, relocated, renovating or have recently closed in East Austin. This list is not comprehensive.

Now open

ATX Pizza Co.

The new pizzeria is now serving New England-style pizzas, calzones, wings and subs. ATX Pizza Co. offers takeout and delivery services only, and operates out of 5610 Food Co in East Austin.

Radio Rosewood

The third location of Radio Coffee & Beer is now open, serving coffee, cocktails and food from food truck Shortwave Diner. The business opened off Menchaca Road in 2014, and its second location off Montopolis Drive opened in 2023.

Mother’s Ruin

Austin is now home to the fourth location of the New York-based bar, following the footsteps of Nashville and Chicago. Mother’s Ruin offers signature cocktails, beer, wines and food in the mixed-use development Centro.

Coming soon

Burlington

Formerly known as Burlington Coat Factory, the department store retailer will soon open in shopping center Capital Plaza, offering items from home decor to clothing.

Relocations

Texas Coffee Traders

The local coffee roasting company relocated its cafe and retail space to a new spot on East Seventh Street. The cafe offers coffee, espresso and tea drinks as well as pastries and fresh roasted coffee beans.

In the news

Dan’s Hamburgers

The longtime Austin hamburger joint’s Airport Boulevard location will be closing within the next couple of months for extensive renovations, including expanding the kitchen and dining area and adding a drive thru. The restaurant will remain closed for roughly six to eight months, according to owner Katie Congdon.

Closings

Coral Snake

The live music venue and bar permanently closed, according to an announcement from staff in January. On a social media post, staff wrote they “tried collectively” to “keep the place alive” but were unfortunately laid off and all shows canceled Jan. 16.

Poeta

The Italian restaurant served its final plate of pasta at The Frances Modern Inn in February. Inn owner Vicki Faust confirmed the boutique hotel will be introducing a new concept in the Spring, saying that Poeta may open a different location in the future. The restaurant opened in the inn in December 2023.
