A pair of Scottsdale business owners are celebrating the first anniversary of their Old Town restaurant, Frozé Arizona, which specializes in frozen wine concoctions and goumet sandwiches.
Courtney Harrison and PJ Coleman were no strangers to the world of small business when they opened Frozé at 4151 N. Marshall Way. Nor were they unfamiliar with each other, having met at the preschool where their kids were enrolled.
“We both have kids close in age and bonded over our children, our love of food and travel,” said Harrison. “We have talked for years about doing something together and Arizona Frozé seemed like the perfect thing to do.”
Coleman, a Scottsdale native, and Harrison, who grew up in Atlanta, Georgia, each had their own business that they continue to operate.
Coleman owns Paula Jacqueline Cakes and Pastries, located in the same building as Frozé, and Harrison owns NNB Agency, an insurance agency that specialist in surety bonds.
They “loved the concept of Frozé,” Harrison said, and decided to take a shot at opening one in Old Town when “we realized that there wasn’t a Frozé bar in Arizona and thought that it would be a great thing to bring here.”
“We chose Old Town because we love the vibe,” she added. “It’s a fun, lively atmosphere and always something to do. We thought a Frozé bar would be a great addition to Old Town.”
Their establishment offers six frozen flavors on tap. “All of our Frozé is made with rosé wine, fresh high-quality fruit purees and finished with complimenting spirits,” she explained.
Their sandwiches include classic egg salad on gourmet bread called the Goldwater and the Stetson, which comprises salami, pepperoni, and ham chopped together with tomato, red onion, provolone and pepperoni and served on a toasted hoagie. It does not disappoint. It also has a variety of chopped salads and charcuterie boards.
Harrison said, “We stay competitive by offering a unique concept. All of recipes were created in house using only the best ingredients. Our sandwiches and salads are fresh and delicious and the atmosphere is vibrant and fun.”
Asked what surprised them the most during their first year of operation and Harrison replied, “How much we enjoy it!”
“We have loved hearing all the great feed back on how good everything is,” she said. “We love seeing our customers enjoying themselves and hearing the laughter when they get together and are having a good time.”
To celebrate their anniversary, they have a series of unique events that begins Tuesday, Oct. 1. People who come into the eatery dancing will get a swag bag filled with goodies. On Oct. 2, all Frozé drinks are $10 all day. Patrons who walk in wearing cowboy boots on Oct. 3 can buy a sandwich for $10 while Oct. 4 will feature a day-long happy hour with discounts on Frozé charcuterie boards. Frozé wine bottles will be 25% off on Oct. 5.
Closed Sunday and Monday, Frozé is open 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday and 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
