Wayfair will open a new 140,000-square-foot store at Denver’s Avenues at Northfield on Nov. 20, marking the online furniture retailer’s fourth large-format brick-and-mortar location.
The two-story store at 8298 E. Northfield Blvd. will feature 19 departments, including furniture, housewares, appliances, mattresses, florals, decor and dedicated areas for design services.
The store took over a former Macy’s location that closed last year.
Wayfair’s arrival comes as the shopping center undergoes a multimillion-dollar redevelopment following its rebranding from The Shops at Northfield to the Avenues at Northfield.
Los Angeles-based real estate private equity firm Stockdale Capital Partners acquired the center in 2022 and has since pursued plans to revitalize the early-2000s development through new investment, updated amenities and a long-term growth strategy.
Other planned additions to the shopping center and nearby include a 103,000-square-foot Life Time facility at 8568 E. 49th Ave., a national grocery store and housing.
Recent openings include Mexican restaurant 3 Margaritas, American dining chain Bubba’s 33 and Jewelry retailer Pandora, according to the center’s website.
“We’re thrilled to open our doors in Denver and welcome customers to Wayfair’s first store in the Mountain West region,” said Liza Lefkowski, vice president of merchandising and stores at Wayfair.
Lefkowski told The Post in June that Northfield’s growth, established retail presence and shift toward a more pedestrian-oriented district made it an attractive location for the retailer.
The store is expected to employ about 150 people, Lefkowski said, with positions ranging from entry-level and part-time jobs to experienced leadership roles.
The Denver store’s hours will be 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.
Grand opening festivities will be held Nov. 20-22. Shoppers can expect discounts of up to 80% throughout the store, $50 gift card giveaways for the first 100 customers each day, additional product giveaways, family-friendly entertainment and other activities.
Founded in 2002 and headquartered in Boston, Wayfair is best known as an online furniture and home goods retailer. The company opened its first brick-and-mortar store in Wilmette, Ill., in May 2024 and is now expanding its physical locations.
