Garrett Crochet has been a member of the Boston Red Sox for just over one season. He left his mark on the team in 2025, leading the pitching staff and finishing second place in American League Cy Young voting.

Crochet’s coming-out party was on April 2, 2025. He threw eight shutout innings against the Baltimore Orioles to snap a four-game losing streak. The start came one day after it was announced that he signed a contract extension through the 2031 season.

Off the field, Crochet teamed up with Sam Adams as part of their “Our City. Our Beer.” collection alongside Boston Celtics star Derrick White as well as New England Patriots and Boston Bruins legends Julian Edelman and Zdeno Chara.

On Saturday at Banners Kitchen and Tap, the four athletes were asked to share their favorite memories of Boston. Edelman, White and Chara each mentioned winning championships and riding duckboats, something Crochet has never done.

“I like to think my favorite memory hasn’t happened yet,” Crochet said. “Hearing all these guys talk about championships, and obviously getting a taste of the playoffs last year was cool, but I feel like you could feel the energy brewing this offseason from the fanbase that they wanted more, and I think our team wants more too.”

Off the field, Crochet said he hasn’t been challenged to a fight for cutting someone off in traffic yet, though his physical presence might have something to do with that. Overall, he’s been happy with the experience, despite the lack of a championship trophy.

“The people have been great, treating me well since I’ve been here,” Crochet said.
