This story has been updated with clarity on Modozie’s transfer portal ranking.

Georgia football loaded up Sunday night with three additions from the transfer portal, including a player that will provide needed proven ability as a pass rusher and a Big Ten running back who led his team in rushing.

Army outside linebacker Elo Modozie, Illinois running back Josh McCray and Miami defensive lineman Joshua Horton join the 2025 Bulldogs roster.

Modozie posted on his Instagram account about his decision, McCray’s signing was reported first by ESPN.com and Horton’s signing was reported by CBSSports.com.

Modozie led the Black Knights last season as a sophomore with 6 ½ sacks and 7 quarterback hurries and was second with 8 tackles for loss while making 34 tackles and blocking two kicks, including one against Notre Dame.

The 6-foot-3, 245-pound Modozie, a St. Augustine, Fla., native was a third-team All-AAC selection. As a freshman in 2023, he had 11 tackles, a sack and recovered a fumble that he returned for a touchdown. He’s ranked the No. 8 EDGE transfer prospect in the 2025 cycle by 247Sports.

McCray rushed for 609 yards and 10 touchdowns on 117 carries last season as a redshirt junior while making 13 catches for 116 yards and a touchdown. He rushed for 114 yards and two touchdowns on 13 carries in a win over South Carolina in the Cheez-it Bowl.

The 6-foot-1, 235-pound McCray rushed for 1,370 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns at Illinois over four seasons. He rushed for 549 yards and two touchdowns as a freshman in 2021, had 56 yards on 19 carries in 2022 while redshirting and rushed for 156 yards and two touchdowns on 43 carries in 2023 while missing the final seven games of the season due to injury.

The Enterprise, Ala. native joins a Georgia backfield that includes sophomore Nate Frazier and freshman Bo Walker.

Georgia lost its top six producers in sacks from last season in inside linebacker/edge Jalon Walker, outside linebacker Chaz Chambliss, defensive ends Mykel Williams and Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins, inside linebacker Samel Mondon and outside linebacker Damon Wilson, who transferred to Missouri.

The 6-foot-4, 295-pound Horton is a former four-star prospect from Langston Hughes High in Fariburn, Ga. As a redshirt freshman last season at Miami, he had four tackles in five games with half a tackle for loss while battling through injury.
