EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — The New York Giants re-signed quarterback Tommy DeVito on Saturday. He was an exclusive rights free agent.

DeVito gets a one-year deal worth $1.03 million, the minimum salary for a player with his experience. There is no guaranteed money.

DeVito is the only quarterback currently under contract for the Giants, who are expected to add a veteran in free agency and likely could also pick up a rookie quarterback in the draft. Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson are expected to be among their top free agent options.

“We’re going to look for the best player available that can help us win games in ’25,” general manager Joe Schoen said recently. “That’s what we’re going to do.”

The Giants made it known to DeVito immediately after the season that he would be tendered as an exclusive rights free agent. Schoen has said each time that he has talked publicly that DeVito was the only quarterback on the roster.

Last year’s No. 2, Drew Lock, is set to become a free agent.

DeVito, 26, burst onto the scene as an undrafted rookie out of Illinois in 2023 when he started and won three straight games, including leading a game-winning drive in the final minutes of a “Monday Night Football” victory over the Green Bay Packers.

He became an instant sensation for his underdog story and Italian heritage. The local product, a native of Cedar Grove, New Jersey, remains a fan favorite.

It didn’t come without success on the field. DeVito threw eight touchdown passes and three interceptions in nine games as a rookie. The Giants even went with him as the starter (ahead of Lock) when Daniel Jones was benched and eventually released last season.

But DeVito ended up starting only two games because of an arm injury that sidelined him for the Giants’ Thanksgiving Day loss to the Dallas Cowboys. Lock was the starter for most of the final few games.

DeVito has played in 12 games during the first two years of his career. He has completed 65.3% of his passes for 1,358 yards with eight touchdown passes and three interceptions. He has also rushed for a touchdown.

The Giants also agreed to a deal with punter Jamie Gillan on Saturday. It’s a three-year deal at an average of $3 million per season, a source told ESPN. With incentives the deal can reach $10.2 million and has a total of $4 million guaranteed.

The Giants have taken care of their specialists leading into free agency. Long-snapper Casey Kreiter received a one-year deal earlier in the week.

Gillan, 27, has gotten consistently better since joining the Giants in 2022 from the Cleveland Browns. He had only two touchbacks in 2024 and had a career-best 48.2% of his kicks inside the 20-yard line. Gillan averaged 43.7 yards per punt this past season.

Also, veteran Chris Manhertz reached agreement on a one-year deal to return to the Giants, agent Sean Stellato said. Manhertz appeared in 17 games for New York last season, his 10th in the league, and had three receptions for 30 yards and a TD.
