A global manufacturer is making its U.S. debut in Schertz’s growing industrial hub.
British plastics manufacturer RGE Group is moving into a 27,000-square-foot facility in Park 35 along Interstate 35 to produce large and technical moldings. The plant is expected to bring 50 skilled manufacturing jobs to the San Antonio suburb.
“The Greater San Antonio region provides the skilled workforce, infrastructure and favorable business conditions necessary to support our North American customers,” RGE Managing Director Dan Leach said. “We look forward to investing in this community and producing high-quality products in Texas.”
The Cambridgeshire-based company has operations in the United Kingdom, Lithuania and China. It has more than 60 years of experience specializing “in mold tooling, precision plastic injection molding, and product design across a diverse range of industries,” RGE said. The full-service company creates tailor-made products for its customers.
Schertz’s workforce includes more than 70,000 skilled workers with expertise in areas like metal fabrication and engine assembly, according to the Schertz Economic Development Corp. RGE will be looking to fill jobs in manufacturing operations, tooling, engineering and production support.
“The investment brings high-quality manufacturing jobs to our region and reinforces Schertz’s growing role as a hub for advanced manufacturing along the IH-35 corridor,” Schertz City Manager Steve Williams said in a press release.
RGE plans to make products for the U.S. market in the Schertz facility, strengthening its North American supply chain. It’s being designed to handle high-volume production and to be able to grow with demand.
The manufacturing facility is expected to open in September, Leach said.
