MARANA, Ariz. – West Virginia University golfer Nick Turowski shot -5 in the final round while senior Kaleb Wilson shot -4 today to lead the Mountaineers to their lowest score in an NCAA event at the NCAA Marana Regional at The Gallery Golf Club in Marana, Arizona, on Wednesday.

Turowski’s bogey-free, -5 today is the second lowest score ever recorded in a round by a Mountaineer in an NCAA event. He finished tied for 18th place at 6-under-par (70-73-67=210), also the second lowest par score recorded by a WVU player in an NCAA event.

Wilson shot 4-under-par in his final round as a WVU golfer with birdies on four of the final five holes. He finished tied for 29th place at -2 with rounds of 77-69-68=214. Senior Westy McCabe finished 1-under-par for the tournament, tied for 31st place with rounds of 69-71-75=215. Sophomore Ryan Leach (78-75-73=226) and freshman Jack Michael (78-69-79=226) both finished at +10.

WVU set school records in an NCAA Regional by finishing -5 for the tournament while the Mountaineers’ -6 round on Tuesday was its lowest 18-hole round in a regional. WVU shot 11-under-par over the final 36 holes.

The Mountaineers were seeded ninth in the regional and finished eighth in the 14-team event. WVU shot rounds of 294-282-283=859. Since 2019, WVU has competed in three regionals as a team and has finished better than its seed each time.

“I’m really proud of the guys for battling back after a disappointing opening round,” coach Sean Covich said. “They battled back the last two days.

“Kaleb and Westy have had great careers, but even more impressive is the impact they have made on our program. They showed our underclassmen how to work hard and care for your teammates.”

West Virginia closes its record-setting 2025-26 season with a school-record 111 victories, three tournament wins in a season for the first time in school history and its second NCAA Regionals appearance in the last three years.

“This was an amazing season, obviously wish we were still playing but the guys put together a lot of impressive performances this season,” Covich added.
