Skydivers, fireworks, and a tribute to America’s military are among the highlights of the lineup at this year’s Freedom Blast event in the City of Greer.
Freedom Blast will take over Greer City Park and surrounding streets on Saturday, June 27 beginning at 6 p.m. The festival, entertainment, and parking are free, but attendees can pay for access to a Kids Zone with amusement rides and purchase food, drinks, and merchandise throughout the event.
Upstate celebrity, JDew, will serve as the master of ceremonies. The event will begin on with a skydiving flag show landing in Greer City Park. A military tribute will begin at 6:30 and will include the 20th Force Support Squadron from Shaw Air Force Base, Marine veteran Ryland Underwood singing the national anthem, and the MSG Preston B. Johnson Veterans Walk.
“Freedom Blast is a cherished tradition in the Greer community, but this year’s event carries special meaning as we celebrate the city’s sesquicentennial and America’s 250th birthday,” said Greer Mayor Rick Danner. “This family-friendly festival is packed with activities and entertainment, but at its core, it’s a tribute to the brave men and women who put their lives on the line to keep us safe and make it possible for us to enjoy a night of celebration in the park with our families and neighbors.”
The Atlanta Braves party band, Party Nation, will headline the festival which will also include live music by Gray Heat on Trade Street, roaming performers throughout the event area, and a laser show on the City Hall clock tower after dark. This year’s fireworks show will launch over the City Park pond, but the lawn of City Park will still be the best place to watch the show.
