The Guardians remain in the middle of the Amerian League playoff race as the regular season enters its final 10 days. Cleveland kept it going in Minnesota with a 6-2 win, extending their season-best winning streak to eight games.
A sweep of the Tigers heading into a weekend series at the Twins has helped Cleveland not only climb up in the wild card standings but kept them within striking distance of the Tigers.
The Guardians have played their best baseball in September, winning 13 times in a 14-game span to keep themselves in the race for one of the American League three wild card spots. They remained 1.5 games back of the last spot entering Sept. 20. They also have moved within 2.5 games of Detroit in the AL Central Division.

The Guardians and Twins play a day-night doubleheader Saturday, Sept. 20, with start times of 2:10 and 7:10. Cleveland began this road trip with a three-game series in Detroit. The Guardians were 7-5 winners in 10 innings in the series opener Sept. 16 and 4-0 winners Sept. 17 and 3-1 winners on Sept. 18.
