WESTBOUND: As reported by Bain & Company, the U.S. is buoyed by renewed domestic demand and Altagamma’s 2026 consensus states that North America is expected to grow 4.5 percent with an increasing number of high-net-worth individuals.

This scenario is tempting several luxury goods house to look Stateside. On Tuesday, Gucci revealed it will present its cruise 2027 collection in New York on May 16. This presentation will mark Demna’s first cruise collection for the Italian luxury house, following his debut fashion show in February in Milan. The venue is still under wraps.

That said, New York also holds a key place in Gucci’s history, as it opened its first store outside of Italy in that city in 1953 — a first step into the brand’s global expansion.

“With this upcoming presentation, the house returns to a city that long embodied its spirit of creativity and cultural dialogue — a place where bold vision and modernity continue to meet and inspire,” Gucci said in a statement first shared with WWD.

As reported, Chanel is scheduled to present its first Métiers d’Art collection designed by Matthieu Blazy on Dec. 2 in New York City. Nicolas Ghesquière will parade his cruise 2027 collection for Louis Vuitton also in New York, and the event is scheduled for May 20. Jonathan Anderson will unveil his first Dior cruise collection in Los Angeles on May 13. Earlier in the year, on Jan. 31, Moncler Grenoble will hold its fall show in Aspen. This is the first American ski destination show for the brand.

As it awaited the arrival of Demna, Gucci staged its cruise 2026 collection, designed by the in-house team, at the brand’s archive in Florence last May 15. The building was acquired by Gucci in 1953, and has served over the years as a workshop, factory and showroom. It has housed the Gucci archive since 2021.

Gucci presented its cruise 2016 collection in New York, parading it at the Dia Art Foundation in Chelsea. It was designed by then-creative designer Alessandro Michele.
