Gymshark isn’t only content with making and selling what people wear in the gym, now it wants to open gyms themselves and its first will be in Wynwood, Miami before the autumn.
The opening date isn’t yet known but it has said that it will be called The Gymshark Lifting Club.
The brand may be 14 years old but it only entered physical spaces in 2020 when its first store debuted on London’s Regent Street. Since then it has expanded in London and in Manchester, and gone international with stores in Amsterdam, Dubai and New York. This year it also launched permanent spaces at retail partners Breuninger and Engelhorn in Germany.
But the move into another type of physical space altogether, particularly as it will be in the US, underlines its big ongoing ambitions.
The company isn’t going into Miami blind as it has previously run fitness festivals (its Lift Events) and attracted crowds of 20,000+ in the city.
Gymshark founder-CEO Ben Francis said opening a gym has been something the brand’s community has called for and that Miami’s fitness and lifting culture made it the obvious place to start.
Earlier this year, Gymshark released its latest results and said it saw its 13th year consecutive year of growth with sales reaching a record £646 million for FY25 (the 12 months to 31 July 2025) after £607.3 million in FY24. However, profit dipped. Pre-tax profits fell to £7 million from £11.9 million as it invested heavily to lay the foundations for its future growth.
