Combat sports can be brutal, not just in the octagon, but in how quickly fans turn on their heroes. Over the years, this pattern has repeated with UFC legends like Anderson Silva, Georges St-Pierre, and now Israel Adesanya.

The beautiful striking, the highlight-reel knockouts, and the dominant title defenses can seemingly be forgotten after a few losses. That’s exactly what got former UFC fighter Darren Till fired up enough to speak his mind about the recent criticism of Adesanya following his loss at UFC Saudi Arabia.

Darren Till’s Words Of Support For Israel Adesanya

Till took to social media to blast what he calls “dumb” fans criticizing Adesanya’s recent performances. The timing is particularly interesting, coming right after Adesanya’s second-round loss to Nassourdine Imavov in Riyadh. The defeat marked Adesanya’s third straight loss.

“He [Israel Adesanya] can lose his next 5 fights and it wouldn’t change a f**king thing on his goat status. But these today kind of mma fans are so f**king dumb stupid IQ of about 10 say these things I just look and think oh my f**king god. Hope is lost…A man like IZZY should be worshipped among mma fans and the ufc. He’s literally one of the all time greats.”

I have just read a comment on an MMA page saying the downfall of Israel Adesanya needs to be studied!!!!!!!!!
Can everyone on here who is not absolute moron actually understand that statement!!!!!!
I am trying so hard to understand it but can’t… I’m so confused…
What…

Till’s passionate defense of the former champion’s legacy brings up some valid points. Looking back at Israel Adesanya’s remarkable run, it’s easy to forget how he dominated the middleweight division with his precise striking and mesmerizing footwork. His title reign included spectacular victories over Paulo Costa, Robert Whittaker, and a memorable rivalry with Alex Pereira that culminated in one of the most satisfying revenge knockouts in UFC history.

The recent fight in Saudi Arabia saw Israel Adesanya looking sharp in the first round before an eye poke changed the momentum. Instead of taking the full recovery time, Adesanya chose to continue – a decision that might have cost him the fight but showed the warrior spirit that made him a champion in the first place.

Will Israel Adesanya’s Decline Force Him To Retire?

Maybe, Maybe Not. But all we know is that the climb back to the summit of the Middleweight division will be a tall ask for Adesanya. The honest and raw emotion in Till’s words reminds fans of similar situations in MMA history. Like when fans started writing off Anderson Silva after his loss to Chris Weidman, forgetting his sixteen-fight win streak. This shows a deeper understanding of the sport beyond personal likes and dislikes.

Till’s rant serves as a reminder that in the unforgiving world of MMA, a fighter’s legacy shouldn’t be defined solely by their most recent performances. After all, this is the same Adesanya who brought a new level of striking excellence to the UFC. He combined kickboxing finesse with showmanship that drew comparisons to Anderson Silva in his prime!
