Job Summary: The head coach is responsible for all aspects of the men’s and women’s swim and dive program, focusing on high-level training, recruitment of qualified student-athletes, program administration, including scheduling and fundraising.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Plan and facilitate training, practices and meet preparation including technical instruction and overall program conditioning. Actively identify, evaluate and recruit qualified student-athletes who align with the university’s academic, athletic and community standards. Oversee administrative tasks including competition scheduling, travel, budget management and equipment maintenance. Monitor academic progress, support the physical and mental well-being of athletes and promote character development. Adhere to all NCAA DII, GMAC and university guidelines and regulations Manage all aspects of home meets and attend scheduled away competitions, including off-season training. Organize team fundraising events, engage with alumni and participate in community service opportunities. Supervise graduate assistants and student staff, creating a Christ-centered environment that promotes growth and belonging.
The head coach must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrate a commitment to the holistic development of student-athletes, work independently, problem solve and manage multiple projects effectively. An ability to handle sensitive situations with confidentiality is a must. Proficiency with Meet Manager/Hy-Tek/Divemeets software is required.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands: Work requires early mornings, evenings and weekends. Travel is required for competitions and recruiting. Must be able to work in hot, humid pool environment.
Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred.
- Previous coaching experience (preferably collegiate) and/or high level competition experience
- Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations
- Valid driver’s license
- CPR/AED/First Aid certification
