The Miami Heat are nearing the end of their offseason moves after finally making the most of the summer. Miami is looking to have a big year after acquiring Giannis Antetokounmpo in a blockbuster deal.

The Heat waited on Klay Thompson for the last month, and it ultimately paid off as the four-time NBA champion signed with Miami last weekend. He also agreed to a team-friendly deal that gave the Heat additional flexibility.
“The Heat on Sunday could celebrate not only the addition of five-time All-Star guard Klay Thompson, but also the fact that the organization emerged from the transaction with more flexibility than some might have expected. Because Thompson agreed to a first year salary of $5.6 million, that left the Heat with the ability to fill both the 14th and 15th roster spots,” Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson wrote.
However, Miami could still look to add another major piece if the opportunity presents itself. Heavy.com’s Sai Mohan proposed a trade that would send Andrew Wiggins and Davion Mitchell to the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for Kyrie Irving and Sergio De Larrea.
“Heat would receive: Kyrie Irving, Sergio De Larrea. Mavericks would receive: Andrew Wiggins, Davion Mitchell,” Mohan wrote.

This deal could become more realistic if Dallas eventually decides to make Irving available, as a recent report suggests there could be questions surrounding his future with the Mavericks.
“The Mavericks, as we’ve been writing since mid-June, have consistently swatted away trade interest this offseason in nine-times-an-All-Star guard Kyrie Irving. Rival teams, however, continue to wonder aloud about how firmly Dallas will stick to that stance once the season begins and the next in-season trade deadline on Feb. 11 gradually approaches. The primary factor fueling that curiosity, of course, is that fact that Irving is 34 and Mavericks star forward Cooper Flagg is 19. Not your average age gap between the team’s two best players,” The Stein Line’s Marc Stein wrote.
Adding another future Hall of Famer to the roster would give Miami an incredible amount of talent and could make the Heat one of the favorites to win the NBA championship. Irving would also provide a significant upgrade at point guard over Mitchell while giving Miami another proven scorer and shot creator.
Irving has made $347 million throughout his career. Miami already has a talented roster, but adding a player of Irving’s caliber could take the team another step forward and give the Heat even more star power heading into the season.
