LANSING, Mich. (WILX) – Voters in Mid-Michigan will hit the polls on Tuesday, May 5 to decide on a number of school and public safety bond proposals and millage renewals.
The May election comes before voters will decide on gubernatorial candidates and U.S. Senate and House of Representatives primary races in August. Earlier this month the Michigan Democratic Party nominated its candidates for attorney general and secretary of state, while Republicans made their nominations at their March convention.
Here’s what Mid-Michigan voters will find on their ballots on the May 5 election:
Ingham County
Ingham ISD Special Ed Bond — $99.9-million proposal to build a new center-based special education school building.
Stockbridge Area Emergency Services Millage Increase — $1.6-million for operating and maintaining fire protection and emergency medical services.
Eaton County
Grand Ledge Area Fire Service Proposal — $22.5-million proposal to build and equip two new fire stations and buy fire trucks and equipment.
Jackson County
Columbia Twp. Fire Protection Renewal Millage — $251-thousand renewal for fire protection.
Columbia Twp. Police Protection Renewal Millage — $503-thousand renewal for police protection.
Columbia Twp. Additional Fire Department Operating Millage — $247-thousand for additional funding for fire department operations.
Columbia Twp. Additional Police Department Operating Millage — $142-thousand for additional millage for police operations.
Columbia School District Bond — $14.8-million for building additions to school building, remodeling, technology, playgrounds, and athletic fields.

Grass Lake Schools Bond — $41.9-million for partially remodeling the elementary, middle, and high schools and additions to the middle school.
Hanover-Horton School Bond — $3.9-million for remodeling of school buildings.
Vandercook Lake School Bond — $9.2-million for remodeling school buildings, plumbing and HVAC improvements, security, and athletic facilities.
Hillsdale County
Reading Schools Sinking Fund Millage Replacement — $398-thousand sinking fund replacement proposal for funding of school buildings, security, and student transportation vehicles.
North Adams-Jerome Public Schools Operating Millage Renewal — $864-thousand renewal for school operations.
Hillsdale Schools Operating Millage Renewal —$3.2-million renewal millage for school operations.
Shiawassee County
Corunna Public Schools Proposal I — $16.5-million proposal for remodeling, furnishing, and equipping school buildings.
Corunna Public Schools Proposal II — $18.17-million proposal to build, furnish, and equip a new Cavalier Event Center.
Morrice Schools Operations Millage — $497-thousand proposal to provide funds for operating purposes.
Livingston County
Brighton Schools Bond — $156-million for additions to school buildings, security, technology, and athletic fields.
Branch County
Quincy Schools Bond — $60-million to build school support building, additions to an existing school building, technology, athletic fields and parking sites.
