The airport said it is putting the finishing touches on an order of cars that will modernize its train fleet that travels between the terminal and concourses.
The airport said the introduction of the new train cars will increase system capacity by approximately 1,700 people per hour and reduce the time between arriving trains.
The new train cars are more energy efficient due to their lightweight aluminum car bodies, assembled using recyclable materials, and more efficient power supplies, DIA said.
“These Innovia vehicles are an important part of Alstom’s commitment to the airport’s future, enabling [DIA] to enhance its transit capabilities and accommodate increasing passenger demand,” said Michael Keroulle, CEO of Alstom Americas. “While this delivery completes the base order of vehicles, Alstom is continuing its work to support [the airport’s] vision of creating a modern and efficient airport transportation network.”
