As companies begin to adopt new technologies and trends, it’s essential to take a step back and follow a clear and deliberate strategy.

Courtney Kincaid, the President and CEO of the Indiana CPA Society, says it’s essential for small businesses to incorporate new technology adoption best practices. She says many business owners have resistance because they don’t always know where to begin, and they have limited staff that can manage the new tech.

Despite these fears, Kincaid says that adopting new technology is a significant investment, and it’s essential for business owners to ensure they maximize their return. She suggests starting by examining your business operations and human capital to determine where you can most benefit from assistance. “What is the ideal situation.”

Kincaid says that developing a smart and comprehensive business strategy helps lay out a roadmap for what’s ahead. Understanding short and long-term goals helps you create and implement the right plan for your business and staff.

In addition, Kincaid says it’s essential not to rush the implementation and adoption of new technology. She says it takes time to move information and train staff, but doing so at a steady pace helps everyone stay on the same page.
