The City of West Chicago Utility Division will conduct fire hydrant flushing beginning Monday, April 6, through Friday, May 8. Work will take place between 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., weather permitting. Signs will be posted in impacted areas prior to flushing.
Hydrant flushing maintains West Chicago’s water distribution system and assures proper operation of hydrants in the event of an emergency.
Please note: Discolored water can result from hydrant flushing. Even if flushing is not taking place in your immediate area, some discoloration is possible. This condition poses no health risk; however, residents are encouraged to check water clarity before washing laundry. If laundry staining occurs, do not place affected clothing in the dryer.
