TACOMA, Wash. — U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested at least 275 people in Washington state in June — more than double the monthly totals earlier in the year, which ranged between 84 and 137 arrests from January through May.
The data, obtained by the Deportation Data Project at UC Berkeley School of Law and compiled by KING 5, is based on internal ICE arrest logs and includes arrests recorded through June 26. The information is not comprehensive, as not all arrest records from the “Seattle Area of Responsibility” include the state where the arrest occurred.
So far in 2025, at least 817 people have been arrested in Washington by ICE.
Washington’s trend mirrors the national and regional pattern.
Nationwide, an estimated 56,945 people were in ICE custody as of late July — an increase of about 15,000 since the start of the year. Of those in custody, 71.1% had no criminal convictions, according to federal data.
While ICE averaged 1,224 daily arrests in June, that number dropped to about 990 per day through the first 26 days of July, according to the Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse. Deportations, however, increased during the same time period, with ICE averaging 84 more removals per day in July than in June.
ICE operates separately from Customs and Border Protection, typically conducting arrests in the interior U.S., often in jails and prisons.
