ICE detained Denver man

Some eight to 10 ICE agents reportedly detained a man in Denver after he was released from jail on bail in the courtyard near the Lindsay-Flannigan Courthouse.

Colorado Rapid Response Network (CORRN) reports that around 10 a.m., eyewitnesses saw ICE officers surround the man as he held a baby in his arms. The witnesses also reported that unmarked vehicles blocked both ends of the courtyard and that there were about eight vehicles inside the courtyard.

The agents reportedly snatched the baby from the man’s arms rather than allow a mother who was at the scene to take possession of her infant.

Although the immigrant father was complying with instructions, agents reportedly used unnecessary force to detain him.

CORRN reported that their volunteers provided the mother and baby with resources and support in the aftermath of the incident.

Colorado sues Trump admin over Medicaid gender-affirming care

Colorado Attorney General and Democratic gubernatorial nominee Phil Weiser sued the Trump administration yesterday over its attempt to prohibit states from using federal Medicaid funds for gender-affirming healthcare.

Filed in the U.S. District Court of Massachusetts alongside other Democratic-led states, the lawsuit says the administration cannot legally ban states from covering healthcare procedures without congressional authorization.

Trump’s health and human services department proposed a rule in December 2025 that would prohibit Medicaid recipients under 18 from receiving reimbursement for gender-affirming care.

The rule would prevent Children’s Health Insurance Program recipients under 19 from receiving reimbursement as well.

Colorado voters in November will be faced with a ballot measure that would ban Colorado healthcare professionals from performing gender-affirming surgeries on minors.

If passed, the measure would also prohibit state and federal funding, including Medicaid, from being used to pay for gender-affirming procedures.

Hurd fields nearly 10,000 callers on water, wolves, VA Care

Nearly 10,000 people joined U.S. Representative Jeff Hurd on a telephone town hall Wednesday night.

Constituents across Colorado’s third congressional district asked the Congressman questions on a variety of issues including healthcare for veterans, wolf reintroduction and water rights.

A caller from Ouray asked about the latest plan to manage the Colorado River and whether President Donald Trump could override any agreement and divert water to a preferred state.

Student ICE walkout today

At 12 p.m. today, Boulder High School students, along with young people at more than 180 other Colorado schools, are expected to walk out of class in protest against ICE.

Walkout organizers say they’re showing solidarity in opposition to harmful immigration enforcement actions and to support immigrant communities.

The Colorado Youth Coalition said on Instagram that students are, “walking out to demand that our communities are treated with dignity, safety, and respect.”

A Boulder Valley School District spokesperson told the Denver Post that the district is prepared for the walkouts, and supports the students’ right to free expression. The district spokesperson added that during demonstrations, individual schools will focus on safety and supervision, and minimizing disruption to normal school activities.

In addition to Boulder County students, anti-ICE demonstrations are expected at schools in Denver, Adams, Broomfield, Arapahoe, and El Paso counties, among many others. In Denver, students will meet at La Alma Park.

One student told the Denver Post that the protest is not about getting out of class. He said that ICE is violating people’s civil rights all across the country, and that the adults in power aren’t doing enough to resolve the issue.
