Jaguars’ Cam Little makes NFL-record 68-yard field goal vs. Raiders

The Jacksonville Jaguars’ first score of their game Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders came in record-breaking fashion, as kicker Cam Little made a 68-yard field goal as time expired in the first half.

The 68-yarder surpassed the record of 66 yards set in 2021 by the Baltimore Ravens’ Justin Tucker in a game against the Detroit Lions. Tucker’s was a game-winning field goal as time expired.

Little made a 70-yard field goal earlier this year in the team’s preseason opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Aug. 9. Little’s jersey and shoe from that 70-yard kick already sit in Canton, Ohio, in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Kicking distance on field goals has been a topic of conversation throughout the season after the NFL made a rule change this past offseason that allows teams to keep the kicking balls with them throughout the week to break them in. Previously, teams would get the kicking balls about an hour prior to kickoff and the special teams units would work with the ball boys to break in the footballs to make them friendlier for the holders and kickers.

“It’s drastically changed the game, the kicking game and the field goal,” Philadelphia Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio said earlier this season. “Guys have longer range than they used to.”

The record has been threatened before this season. Dallas Cowboys kicker Brandon Aubrey, who, along with Little, has become a poster child for long-distance kicks, made a 65-yard field goal last season. He also made a 66-yarder in the 2024 preseason. Tampa Bay Buccaneers kicker Chase McLaughlin made a 65-yard field goal in Week 4 of this season against the Eagles.
