ORLANDO — The City Beautiful appears to be one step closer to hosting Jacksonville Jaguars football games during the 2027 season.
The Jaguars have been looking for a home for 2027 while EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville undergoes a $1.2 billion renovation.
Orlando Commissioner Shan Rose tells Spectrum News that the Jaguars have told the city they want to play in Orlando.
Flordia Citrus Sports CEO Steve Hogan sent a note to Spectrum News that said:
“We believe we’ve put forward a competitive package for Jaguars games to be played here during the 2027 season. Our community has consistently demonstrated its ability to successfully host major events, and this opportunity would mark an important new chapter for our city as a global sports and entertainment destination.“
Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainsville was the other location the Jags were considering, but “The Swamp” is set to undergo renovations during that time frame.
Camping World Stadium is in the midst of its own $400 million renovation that will be completed in early 2027 — in time to host the the Jaguars.
National Football League owners have a meeting scheduled in early December where a vote is expected to make it official that the Jags will play their 2027 home games here in Orlando.
