Jaguars keeping coordinators key for Liam Coen, 2026 season

At least Jaguars coach Liam Coen won’t have to spend the next few weeks searching for a new offensive coordinator or defensive coordinator.

The Jacksonville Jaguars announced they re-signed two players on Monday, Feb. 16.

Running back Deejay Dallas and defensive lineman Matt Dickerson were both retained by the club.

Dallas appeared in three games last season after signing as a depth player and kick returner because of an injury to Bhayshul Tuten. He had six returns for 180 yards and had two carries for 21 yards.

Originally drafted in the fourth round of the 2020 draft, Dallas will likely resume his return duties for the club and slot in as a depth running back for the Jaguars.

Dickerson played in each of the last eight games in the 2025 season, emerging as a key piece along the defensive line. He initially was a member of the practice squad before working his way into the rotation.

Dickerson finished with 10 total tackles, two quarterback hits, one pass defended and one tackle for a loss. He helps fill a need along the defensive line as the Jaguars look to duplicate their league-leading run defense.

Which Jaguars are slated to be free agents in 2026?

The following Jaguars are slated to be free agents this offseason:

Unrestricted:

  • WR Dyami Brown
  • CB Montaric Brown
  • RB Travis Etienne
  • LB Dennis Gardeck
  • DL Austin Johnson
  • LB Devin Lloyd
  • CB Greg Newsome
  • DE Emmanuel Ogbah
  • WR Tim Patrick
  • DL Dawuane Smoot
  • S Andrew Wingard

Restricted:

When is NFL free agency?

The NFL’s free agency period kicks off when the new league year begins on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at 4 p.m.

What is the NFL’s negotiation period? When is it?

Ahead of the new league year, the NFL gives teams a two-day window to negotiate contracts with agents of prospective Unrestricted Free Agents, but not sign them.

The NFL’s free agency negotiations period, colloquially known as the NFL’s “legal tampering period,” will begin on Monday, March 9, at 12 p.m.

What is an unrestricted free agent?

An unrestricted free agent is a player whose contract has expired at the start of a new league year. The player will be free to sign with any team at that point.

What is a restricted free agent?

A restricted free agent is a player with three accrued seasons and an expired contract. The player can negotiate with other teams; however, their original team can offer a “tender,” a one-year contract at a set salary level, that includes either a right of first refusal or draft-pick compensation if they sign elsewhere.

If the original team does not tender an offer, the player becomes a UFA.
