The New York Giants‘ head coaching search has intensified, with strong mutual interest emerging between the organization and recently departed Baltimore Ravens coach John Harbaugh.

The Athletic’s Dianna Russini, appearing on Scoop City, reported that “from what I understand, Harbaugh really likes the Giants (and) they really like him.”

She added that the two sides are working to schedule a formal interview, targeting this weekend or early next week, with the Giants eager to get him in the building.

Russini described the team’s urgency, saying they’re “basically clearing the building, like, ‘We got Stefanski, now let’s get him here.'”

The Giants hosted former Cleveland Browns coach Kevin Stefanski for dinner Tuesday night and followed up with another meeting Wednesday.

Harbaugh, 63, was dismissed after an 8-9 season in Baltimore, ending an 18-year tenure that included a Super Bowl XLVII title and 180 regular-season wins.

The Giants reportedly held internal discussions about Harbaugh even before his availability, now view him as the ideal stabilizer, and are “all in” on landing the championship-proven coach despite interest from at least seven other teams.
