John Leguizamo to return to people’s screens on July 6 with Season Two of “Leguizamo Does America.” The show explores LatinX communities across the United States
John Leguizamo will continue to spotlight the Latin community in the second season of his television show Leguizamo Does America.
The second installment of the MSNBC docuseries premieres on July 6 and will see John visit cities such as Philadelphia, Phoenix, New Orleans, and San Antonio. The premise of the show sees John explore LatinX communities across the United States, exploring their traditions, foods, and political views that form each area.
The Emmy and Tony award-winning Colombian-American actor, comedian, and producer has always been a voice for the LatinX people and says the reason he created this show was to “celebrate Latin joy and Latin abilities”.

In a recent interview with PEOPLE he said, “I set out to look for Latin excellence, Latin innovation, Latin exceptionalism, and celebrate Latin abilities and qualities.”
John continued, “I go across the country, and I’m flabbergasted at the plethora of talent that’s out there. Artists, politicians, activists, actors in all walks of life, and they’re doing such amazing things.
“We’re living this parallel shadow life in America, where we’ve been here since 1492 and before. And the first European language spoken here was not English — it was Spanish, in America,” he added.
During season one, which premiered in April 2023, the Romeo + Juliet star visited Miami, Washington, D.C., Chicago, Puerto Rico, Los Angeles and New York City, where he grew up. Referring to the places he visited for season two, John said San Antonio was his favorite.
He explained, “San Antonio really rocked me in a way that I didn’t expect. Maybe because I didn’t expect it to be the [seventh]-largest city in America, and for the food scene to be so incredible and the activism and the history, the Latin history there, because obviously it was Mexico before it was America.”
John added, “So the culture runs deep, and you feel it.”
Viewers have expressed their excitement for season two as one person commented on his Instagram post, “We’re waiting!! So happy you continued this very important work, especially considering what we Latinos are currently experiencing now more than ever! We appreciate you so much for everything you do for our community and for all Latinos and Hispanics!!”
The shows premiere comes after Congress passed the president’s so-called “Big Beautiful Bill” which will supercharge Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) power with 10,000 new agents and 100,000 new detention beds. ICE has separated many families forcefully targeting and deporting immigrants.
Trump also recently toured the newly opened “Alligator Alcatraz,” an ICE detention facility built in the Florida Everglades. The warehouse was built in eight days and is full of chain link dividers and hundreds of bunk beds. The space is meant to hold up to 5,000 ICE detainees.
