JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Elon University women’s track and field team concluded competition at the NCAA East First Round as graduate student Mikayla Jones raced in the 5,000-meters on Saturday night, May 31, at Hodges Stadium at the campus of the University of North Florida.
Jones ran a time of 16:32.82 in the race in her first-ever NCAA preliminary for the Phoenix. The Aurora, Ohio, native and the CAA outdoor champion in the 5,000 finished 43rd overall in the competitive field.
The meet concludes the Phoenix’s 2025 outdoor season in which Elon captured its fourth CAA title out of the past five seasons and its sixth overall since joining the league in 2014. Jones and teammate Madison Synowiec represented the Phoenix at the NCAA East Preliminaries, the 12 straight year of the maroon and gold having an athlete qualify for the first round meet (excluding the canceled 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic).
