Public charter jet service JSX adds more nonstop offerings from Reno-Tahoe International Airport with two new seasonal flights.
Reno fliers are getting “hop-on” service to Las Vegas and Southern California this week as public charter jet service JSX starts two new seasonal flights.
JSX will start the seasonal flights to Las Vegas and Carlsbad, California — which is located between Los Angeles and San Diego — on June 19. The new routes will operate four times a week and run through Sept.1.
“We see an increased interest in outdoor activity, with Lake Tahoe and the surrounding area being top of mind for travelers in the West and Mountain West,” said Ben Kaufman, JSX senior director for customer experience, loyalty, partnerships and public relations.
“With an established presence in Reno already, it was only logical to expand our offerings so that more JSX markets had simple, seamless flights to their most coveted summer destinations.”
The Reno Gazette Journal first reported on the new JSX routes in March. It is also one of several new seasonal flights this year at Reno-Tahoe International Airport, which saw 4.8 million passengers in 2024 — the highest in nearly two decades.
Spirit Airlines, for example, announced new seasonal flights between Reno and San Diego earlier this month from Aug. 14 to Sept. 2. Other seasonal flights this year for Reno-Tahoe International Airport include:
- May 22 to Aug. 31: Sun Country seasonal service to Minneapolis-St. Paul (MSP)
- May 24 to Aug. 17: United Airlines seasonal service to Houston (IAH)
- June 5 to Sept. 29: Southwest Airlines seasonal service to Chicago (MDW)
- June 7 to Sept. 28: Southwest Airlines seasonal service to Dallas (DAL)
- June 8 to Sept. 8: Delta Air Lines seasonal service to Minneapolis-St. Paul (MSP)
- June 12 to Sept. 2: JetBlue seasonal service to New York (JFK)
What is JSX?
Formerly known as JetSuiteX, JSX describes itself as a “hop-on” commercial air service. The carrier operates as a public charter jet, which is more akin to a private jet service experience.
Instead of using the same terminals at the Reno airport that commercial airlines use, JSX flies out of the Stellar Aviation Group facility on the east side of Reno-Tahoe International Airport on 485 S. Rock Blvd., which typically serves charter flights.
JSX first started flying to Reno as JetSuiteX in 2018 before briefly leaving and then returning as JSX in 2020. The air carrier provides flight service to John Wayne International Airport in Orange County and Hollywood Burbank Airport.
The new seasonal flights will serve Reno-Tahoe International Airport, Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas and McClellan-Palomar Airport in Carlsbad.
The seasonal JSX flights will run four times a week on Monday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday, with fares starting at $259 one way. Each flight includes two free checked bags, healthy snacks and complimentary cocktails, according to JSX CEO Alex Wilcox.
