Vice President Kamala Harris is returning to Atlanta to host a rally on Saturday, October 19th. The Harris-Walz campaign is using the rally to mark the end of the first week of Georgia’s early voting period. Although, details about the rally are not yet known.
Also, this rally will be a counter punch for the Democrats after the Trump campaign announced they are hosting a rally in Forsyth County on Tuesday.
According to RealClearPolitics, the aggregate average of polls have Harris and former President Donald J. Trump in a dead heat. The October 8th poll commissioned by the Wall Street Journal has Harris in a slim lead.
Previously, Senator JD Vance visited Floyd County on October 4th as he promoted Donald Trump’s immigration agenda.
Former President Bill Clinton made a visit to Georgia on Sunday and Monday as he stumped for Harris.
Harris’s previous visit to Georgia was in Cobb County as she spoke about Georgia’s abortion bans in September. The Vice President told the story of Amber Nicole Thurman. Thurman, 28, went to Piedmont Henry Hospital in suburban Atlanta with signs of sepsis in August 2022. A Georgia state committee ruled her death was preventable due to a delay in care for a rare complication that occurred after she had a medical abortion.
“This election right here is the fight for the future,” Harris said. “And it is a fight for freedom. That includes the fundamental freedom of a woman to make decisions about her own body.”
