CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College Football has hired Kenyatta Watson as General Manager, Head Coach Bill O’Brien and Director of Athletics Blake James announced last week.

“Kenyatta’s return home to The Heights is a great thing for Boston College Football,” said O’Brien. “His expertise in scouting, recruiting, and sustaining elite talent will strengthen our roster and elevate our performance on the field. I’m excited to work with him as we set our sights on a bright future for this program.”

Watson, a former wide receiver/return specialist with the Eagles from 1993-96, spent the last two seasons at Auburn as Assistant General Manager/Recruiting. A key piece in Auburn’s recruiting efforts, Watson and the Tigers constructed consensus top-10 recruiting classes nationally in both 2024 and 2025.

Prior to his time at Auburn, Watson spent two seasons at Georgia Tech as Director of Scouting. Watson was instrumental in the Yellow Jackets’ personnel department, evaluating both high school student-athletes while navigating and monitoring the Transfer Portal. Additionally, Watson served as a liaison between professional scouts and the Georgia Tech Football program.

Before arriving at Georgia Tech, Watson spent one season at Florida State as Director of Player Relations. In Tallahassee, Watson also served as the Seminoles’ pro scout liaison.

Watson’s command of the southeastern high school football landscape, specifically in Atlanta, made a name for himself long before his first college job. From 2014-2018, he was the Director of Football Operations and Recruiting at Grayson High School in Grayson, Ga., where he was critical in the process of nearly 120 high school football players earning scholarships. Watson’s influence on the growth of youth football was immense, coordinating and directing several prominent camp series and showcases for years.

As a player at Boston College, Watson registered 93 receptions for 1,215 yards at wide receiver. A gifted returner, Watson totaled over 2,000 yards and eight touchdowns in 40 career games as an Eagle. He finished his career as one of the top returners in Big East Football history, ranking second in punt returns with 84, sixth in punt return yards with 816, and ninth in punt return touchdowns with two.

Originally, from Deerfield Beach, Fla, Watson graduated from Boston College with a degree in communications while minoring in marketing in 1996.
