A representative with Momentum Climbing Gym confirmed Feb. 10 that a new location is heading for the Houston Heights this fall.

What we know

The new climbing gym will be the “largest project to date,” marketing director Anthony Hedberg said.

The facility caps out at 52,000 square feet. The space will feature extensive rope climbing, including lead, top-rope and auto-belay zones, along with a large bouldering area and dedicated youth climbing spaces.

Hedberg said the wall terrain and climbing routes will cater to all experience and ability levels.

More details

Beyond climbing, the gym will include a full-service fitness area with free weights and cardio equipment, a dedicated yoga studio with daily classes and a specialized training zone with multiple board-climbing systems, hangboards and performance-focused tools.

Hedberg said the Heights location will also offer an infrared sauna and other recovery amenities alongside the shower and locker room services.

As of Feb. 11, Hedberg said that a specific address cannot be shared while it functions as an active construction zone. However, it will be set somewhere north of I-10 in the Houston Heights community.

Something of note

Momentum Climbing Gym is also opening a 36,000-square-foot bouldering location ahead of the Heights’ debut in Memorial City, which will open in the summer. The brand has two other locations in the Greater Houston area, with one in Katy and a location off of Silver Street in Houston.

Quote of note

“Momentum is a place where people can disconnect from the daily grind and just have fun,” Hedberg said. “It’s a second home built on genuine belonging, and we’re excited to bring that same opportunity to Houston Heights and Memorial City. These gyms will offer an elevated experience with exciting new terrain and provide much-needed options for climbing in Houston proper.”
