LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Three Square Food Bank in Las Vegas is launching a new initiative to connect the community with fresh produce.

The food bank is hosting a kickoff event for the “Farm Fresh” program at Boulevard Mall from 7-10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 11.

“Farm Fresh” is designed to reduce the meal gap in Southern Nevada with large-scale, drive-through distribution.

Community members can receive farm-fresh fruits and vegetables at no cost, thanks to expanded partnerships with local farms and growers to rescue surplus foods.

Three Square says it has taken steps to extend the shelf life of the produce while improving delivery.

Regular drive-through distributions will be held across Southern Nevada to maximize accessibility. The food bank estimates it will double the amount of rescued food distributed to the community from 20 million to 40 million pounds.

Anyone in need of food assistance can visit threesquare.org or call the Three Square Center at 702-765-4030 to find a nearby distribution site.
