For the second time during the 2026 recruiting cycle, the Texas women’s basketball team has headed west to secure a commitment.

Aaliah Spaight announced her commitment to Texas on social media Tuesday. Spaight is a 5-foot-7 point guard out of Las Vegas’ Bishop Gorman High. She’s rated by ESPN HoopGurlz as a four-star recruit.

Spaight visited Texas last weekend and also recently visited LSU.

Spaight joins California-raised guard Amalia Holguin in UT’s next recruiting class. ESPN HoopGurlz considers Holguin and Spaight to respectively be the No. 58 and 77 recruits in the Class of 2026. Holguin and Spaight played together on the same club team at the Nike Nationals tournament this summer.

According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Spaight won a state championship as a sophomore and averaged 19.6 points and 7.4 rebounds per game during her junior year. Her top-10 list also featured South Carolina, North Carolina, Vanderbilt and Texas Tech.

Since Vic Schaefer was hired as the Longhorns’ head coach in April 2020, Texas has signed 14 top-100 recruits. In November, Holguin and Spaight could become the 15th and 16th players on that list.
