COACH’S QUOTE

“I’m proud of our compete,” said Head Coach Steve Wiedler. “We never gave up.  We had a lot of grade-A chances that we didn’t finish on. Can’t win games only scoring one goal. So, we’ll continue to have to work on that. At this level every play matters. It’s that close.”

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Catamounts had a great chance to open the scoring midway through the first period with a 67 second extended five-on-three power play. Boston College’s Louka Cloutier made three saves, and Caeden Herrington rang a shot off the post, but it stayed scoreless.
  • The Eagles opened the scoring on their own power play with 5:01 left in the opening frame. A Vermont clearing attempt was knocked down by a BC forward and it created a quick change two-on-one down low. Dean Letourneau waited for UVM’s Aiden Wright to go down and then roofed a backhand to make it 1-0.
  • Vermont equalized on its own power play with 4:39 to play in the third period. Herrington fired a shot from the point that Cloutier padded aside but Cédrick Guindon quickly passed the rebound over to Max Strand who stashed home his first goal of the season to make it 1-1.
  • Boston College won the game late after forcing a neutral zone turnover. James Hagens fed Resendes a perfect pass as he split the defense and he skated in alone on Wright before roofing a shot just under the bar to win the game for the Eagles.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

  • Duncan Ramsay blocked a game-high four shots Friday night. The Catamounts blocked 14 shots as a team.
  • Caeden Herrington led all Catamounts Friday with five shots on goal.
  • With this evening’s 2-1 decision, Community Bank N.A. will donate $0 to Special Olympics Vermont. Community Bank, N.A. donates $50 per goal to Special Olympics Vermont for every goal the men’s and women’s team scores this season.
