Veronica Vences has been named Vice President of Economic Justice and Opportunity for the Latino Community Foundation.
As part of her new responsibilities, according to a Dec. 12 emailed update, Vences will lead a statewide and expanding regional economic justice strategy focused on closing wealth gaps and strengthening economic infrastructure for Latino communities, many of which are concentrated in the Bay Area and North Bay.
Vences spent seven years at La Luz Center in Sonoma Valley, leading relief efforts during the 2017 wildfires and the COVID-19 pandemic, overseeing more than $1.5 million in relief work and initiatives including small business micro-loans, workforce development, and vaccine equity, according to the email release.
Since joining the Latino Community Foundation in 2022, Vences has helped direct over $3 million to Latino-serving organizations.
