EA Sports is giving fans a taste of what to expect from College Football 25 with athletes and celebrities taking part in head-to-head streaming matchups on Twitch this weekend.
The schedule of events kicks off on Saturday at 1 p.m. ET with LeBron James taking part in Hillwood’s stream with his former high school football coach Frankie Walker.
Other notable streams during the weekend include a matchup between former Heisman winners Michael Vick and Tim Tebow, as well as Colorado teammates Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter squaring off.
The matchups will feature players controlling teams that they either played for or have personal ties to.
James, for instance, will use Ohio State for his stream. Even though he never went to college, he has claimed the Buckeyes as his college team since they are the most successful institution from his home state.
Despite being from Akron, there was no chance James would play using a Zips team coming off three straight 2-10 seasons and no bowl appearances since 2017.
The Hunter-Sanders showdown will be interesting to follow since they will both be playing as Colorado. EA Sports is definitely buying into the Buffaloes hype by giving the team an 87 overall rating, tied with nine other teams for 16th in the nation.
In addition to the fun of seeing these stars play the new game, EA Sports will also be providing a walkthrough of the different modes. The Arizona State vs. Florida State stream featuring Chad Walker and Ben Haumiller will showcase dynasty mode.
Dynasty mode contains three pillars: Build Your Coach, Build Your Program and Deliver the World of College Football.
Players are able to progress with their coach by playing games and completing various goals within each game.
The streaming weekend is taking place as the final build for the game’s release is on the verge of coming out. The 11-year wait for a new EA Sports college football game will end on July 19.
EA Sports College Football 25 will be available for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Gamers who preorder the deluxe edition will have access to play on July 16.
