The Daily Press, Delta Area Transit Authority (DATA) and the Menominee-Delta-Schoolcraft Community Action Agency (MDSCAA) will be partnering to host Business After Hours this Wednesday at DATA, 2901 27th Ave. N, Escanaba, from 5 to 7 p.m.

ESCANABA – This Wednesday, the Daily Press, Delta Area Transit Authority (DATA) and the Menominee-Delta-Schoolcraft Community Action Agency (MDSCAA) will be partnering to host Business After Hours, a networking event for local professionals.

The event will be held at DATA, 2901 27th Ave. N, Escanaba, on Wednesday, May 27 from 5 to 7 p.m. and will feature raffle prizes, food from Bobaloons Cafe in Escanaba, refreshments from Pikes and Binks and ample opportunities to connect with area business leaders.

“We’re excited to host Business After Hours and appreciate the opportunity to connect with community members and local organizations in a relaxed networking environment,” said Amy Fudala, DATA’s mobility manager. “Events like this are a great way to build relationships, share ideas and strengthen community partnerships.”

Additionally, attendees will have the chance to meet the new editor of the Daily Press, Liam Houston.

Houston is originally from the metro Detroit area but considers himself an honorary Yooper due to his time living in Houghton while studying at Michigan Technological University (MTU). At MTU, he completed a bachelor’s degree in scientific and technical communication and a master’s degree in applied cognitive science and human factors.

He also has a background in collegiate journalism, having served as the layout and production manager for The Lode, MTU’s student newspaper.

“A newspaper works to serve its community,” Houston said. “I am eager to meet local professionals and better know the community of Escanaba so that I may help the Daily Press continue to fulfill its function.”

Houston looks forward to working with Escanaba’s established reporters and members of the community to continue the paper’s mission of quality local journalism and maintaining a civil forum for public discourse.
