A new beverage-inspired literary experience has opened its doors in a historic part of San Antonio.

In case you missed it

Honey Flutters Teas & Books held a grand opening ceremony on March 8, Owner Melissa Swift told Community Impact.

Located at 18771 FM 2252, Bldg. 23—inside Bracken Village near Selma and Garden Ridge—the shop is both a tea room dining experience and a bookstore complete with clubs and events.

“It’s been a whole new chapter, and it was time for me to choose what that meant for me,” Swift said. She said this is the first time she has owned a business after leaving the corporate world.

On the tea menu is an assortment of curated teas, from casual green tea to international flavors, according to their website.

There are also pastries and smaller savory bites to eat; plus, guests can get their own tea and book boxes to give as gifts or for personal enjoyment.

On the literary side of things, Swift said there’s a handpicked selection of books from romantasy to standard fiction.

“We really want to focus on welcoming everyone and making people of all ages interested in reading again,” Swift said.

To help with these goals, Swift holds a monthly book club and English tutoring each week to help inspire the community. In the future, she said she would like to see more local, San Antonio-based artists and authors have their work displayed at the shop.

“It makes it far more interactive for artists,” she said. “People will be able to engage and interact with them in-person.”

The next book club meeting will be held on March 31st, both at the store and via Zoom.
