FAIRFAX DISTRICT, LOS ANGELES (KABC) — A Los Angeles classic is turning 95 years old this week.
El Coyote Mexican Restaurant in the Fairfax District and opened back in 1931.
Its walls are lined with autographed portraits of some of its famous customers, such as John Wayne, Princess Grace and Prince Rainier of Monaco.
More recently it was featured in the Quentin Tarantino film “Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood.”
On Thursday, the restaurant is thanking all their customers by offering a taco or enchilada with rice and beans for just 95 cents.
Margie Christoffersen is the owner. Her aunt and uncle were the original owners, followed by her parents.
“It was their passion, it was their heart, it was their everything, and they gave it everything. And I think that’s why we’re still here,” she said.
El Coyote has been family owned their whole time. They’re now into their third generation running the restaurant.
