When LSU football takes the field inside NRG Stadium to take on Houston in the Texas Bowl, it’ll put the bow on a tumultuous 2025 season.
Tiger fans have already started looking forward to next season as Lane Kiffin will be the team’s head coach, succeeding former coach Brian Kelly, who was fired midseason this year.
The Texas Bowl will be interim head coach Frank Wilson‘s last game at LSU, as he is taking a position on Pet Goulding’s staff at Ole Miss, where Kiffin previously worked and was the former boss of Goulding.
Starting quarterback Garrett Nussmeier played hurt for much of 2025 while LSU’s offensive line struggled as it was manned by a number of youthful, inexperienced players and dealt with injuries to key linemen like center Braelin Moore and left tackle Tyree Adams.
This is LSU’s second straight season playing in the Texas Bowl. Last year, the Tigers downed Baylor, 44-31. This is the fifth consecutive season LSU has made a bowl game, and it carries a three-game bowl win streak into this year’s Texas Bowl against Houston (9-3).
