Lucas Giolito credited Boston Red Sox fans following another home win.
The starting pitcher propelled Boston to a 5-2 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates, working around five walks to allow one run over six innings. MassLive’s Christopher Smith noted that Giolito is 5-0 with three earned runs relinquished over his last six outings at Fenway Park.
That’s not a mere coincidence to Giolito, who commended Boston’s home-field advantage after the game.
“I just love pitching here,” Giolito said, per Smith. “Feeling the energy from the crowd and just like the magic of Fenway in general. I think every guy on the roster would say something similar.”
Giolito hasn’t dominated at Fenway Park all season. He actually has a better ERA on the road (3.23) than at home (3.56) after permitting 19 earned runs in his first three home starts of 2025.

The Red Sox are 42-27 at home compared to a 34-35 road record. However, they snapped a five-game Fenway losing streak on Sunday after winning seven of eight contests on a recent road trip.
Following Sunday’s strong outing, Giolito is 10-2 with a 3.38 ERA in 125 1/3 innings. The right-hander has stabilized Boston’s rotation alongside Garrett Crochet and Brayan Bello in his return from Tommy John surgery.
Giolito is scheduled to make his next start on the road against the Arizona Diamondbacks, but he could then pitch in a crucial three-game home series against the New York Yankees.
