ALL OF OUR TSA WAIT TIMES AT THE AIRPORT RIGHT NOW ARE LESS THAN 30 MINUTES. SANIKA MEAGHAN. AND THANKS. IN ORLANDO, TWO MEN ARE NOW IN THE ORANGE COUNTY JAIL FOR A SHOOTING THAT LEFT ONE PERSON HURT IN COLLEGE PARK. LET’S BRING IN SHELDON DUTES THIS MORNING. SHELDON. THIS ALL HAPPENED OUTSIDE A HOME ON IVANHOE BOULEVARD. THIS WAS JUST ALONG THE LAKE. YEAH, A POPULAR AREA FOR PEOPLE TO WALK AND RUN IN THAT AREA. AND SANIKA ORLANDO POLICE ARRESTED 24 YEAR-OLD KENNY MASON AND 25 YEAR-OLD JAMES HOUSTON. OFFICERS SAY MARQUISE AND HOUSTON SAW THE HOMEOWNER OUTSIDE OF HIS HOUSE THERE ON IVANHOE BOULEVARD, NEAR LAKE IVANHOE, EARLY YESTERDAY MORNING. THIS WAS AROUND 540 IN THE MORNING OR SO. THEY HELD A GUN AND DEMANDED THAT MAN’S CAR AND HIS BELONGINGS AS HE TRIED GOING BACK INTO HIS HOUSE. BUT POLICE SAY ONE OF THE SUSPECTS SHOT HIM. NEIGHBORS WHO WERE TOO SHAKEN UP TO SHOW THEIR FACES ON CAMERA, TOLD US THEY WERE SHOCKED TO HEAR ABOUT THIS HAPPENING. WELL, THE FIRST THING THAT GOES THROUGH MY MIND IS WHOEVER IS SHOT, I HOPE THEY’RE OKAY. AND SECONDLY, IT JUST KIND OF GOES BACK TO LIKE, WHAT? WHAT ARE WE DOING AS A SOCIETY? WHY, WHY IS WHY IS THIS HAPPENING AND WHY, WHY DOES IT CONTINUE TO HAPPEN? IT NEEDS TO STOP NOW. POLICE BELIEVE MASON AND HOUSTON WERE TRYING TO BREAK INTO OTHER CARS IN THE AREA. POLICE SAY THEY WERE ABLE TO GET A GUN FROM AN UNLOCKED CAR, WHICH THEY THEN USED IN THAT SHOOTING YESTERDAY. THE TWO MEN ARE NOW FACING MULTIPLE CHARGES AND WILL LIKELY FACE A JUDGE AT SOME POINT TODAY. THE MAN WHO WAS SHOT HAD LIVED IN HIS COLLEGE PARK HOME FOR YEARS AND IS STILL RECOVERING IN THE HOSPITAL THIS MORNING. GUYS, HIM AND ORLANDO POLICE RESPONDED TO ANOTHER SHOOTING SUNDAY, JUST A FEW MILES AWAY FROM THAT COLLEGE PARK SHOOTING SCENE. POLICE ARE TELLING US ONE PERSON WAS HIT WITH GUNFIRE AROUND TWO IN THE MORNING AT THE 7-ELEVEN OFF EAST COLONIAL DRIVE AT ORANGE AVENUE. THAT PERSON WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL. POLICE SAY BOTH OF THE SHOOTINGS POSED NO THREAT TO THE PUBLIC, AND THEY SAY THERE WERE NOT CONNECTED. ALSO, IN ORANGE COUNTY, MAN IS DEAD AFTER BEING SHOT ON SATURDAY. DEPUTIES SAY THE MAN IN HIS 50S WAS FOUND ALONG LAKE WESTON DRIVE NEAR FOREST CITY ROAD. HE WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL BUT DID NOT SURVIVE. NO WORD ON A POTENTIAL SHOOTER THIS MORNING OR A MOTIVE THIS MORNING. IN OSCEOLA COUNTY, A MAN IS IN JAIL ACCUSED OF KILLING HIS FRIEND. THE SHOOTING HAPPENED SATURDAY IN FRONT OF A SAINT CLOUD HOUSE. WESH 2’S BOB HAZEN IS LIVE AT THE OSCEOLA COUNTY JAIL. BOB, THE VICTIM’S EX-WIFE, SAYS THESE TWO MEN WERE VERY CLOSE. YEAH, SHE TOLD US THEY HUNG OUT ALL THE TIME AND NOTHING SEEMED TO BE THE MATTER BETWEEN THE TWO OF THEM. UNTIL THAT MURDER ON SATURDAY. NOW, THE ACCUSED KILLER IS 29 YEAR OLD JOSHUA MILLER. AND HE’S HERE IN THE OSCEOLA COUNTY JAIL RIGHT NOW. THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE SAYS THE SHOOTING HAPPENED ON BRONCO DRIVE NEAR SAINT CLOUD. THAT’S WHERE THEY FOUND THE VICTIM. 29 YEAR-OLD JOSEPH BECK, SHOT IN THE DRIVEWAY OF A HOME AND HE DIED AT THE HOSPITAL. INVESTIGATORS QUICKLY FOCUSED ON MILLER. THEY SAY HE LEFT THE SCENE AFTER THE SHOOTING, THEN WAS CAUGHT YESTERDAY AT ANOTHER HOUSE. WE TALKED TO BECK’S EX-WIFE. SHE SAYS. THE TWO MEN WERE VERY GOOD FRIENDS, HAD BEEN TOGETHER JUST A FEW DAYS AGO. SHE CAN’T UNDERSTAND WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED BETWEEN THEM. AND BECK LEAVES BEHIND FOUR YOUNG KIDS. THEY ARE DEVASTATED. THEY BALD AND THEY SCREAMED. THEIR DAD WAS THERE LIKE IDOL. AND THEY’RE LIKE, THEY REALLY DID LOVE THEIR DAD. AND THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE STILL HASN’T SAID WHAT THE MOTIVE FOR THE MURDER MIGHT BE. BUT WE DO KNOW THAT MILLER IS CHARGED WITH BOTH MURDER AND WITH BURGLARY. HE’S BEING HELD HERE IN THE JAIL WITH NO BOND AND IS SET TO GO IN FRONT OF A JUDGE LATER ON TODAY, REPORTING LIVE AT THE OSCEOLA COUNTY JAIL. BOB HAZEN WESH TWO NEWS. ALL RIGHT, BOB. AND IN MARION COUNTY, ONE PERSON HAS BEEN HURT AFTER AN EXPERIMENTAL AIRCRAFT CRASHED INTO THE TREE LINE NEAR OCALA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT. THIS ALL HAPPENED OVER THE WEEKEND. ON SATURDAY, FIRE RESCUE OFFICIALS TELL US THE PILOT HAD TO BE CUT OUT OF THIS SMALL PLANE. NO WORD ON HIS CONDITION THIS MORNING. NOW THE FAA IS INVESTIGATING. TO COMMITMENT 2024. MONIQUE WORRELL SAYS SHE WANTS HER JOB BACK DESPITE BEING REMOVED AS STATE ATTORNEY FOR ORANGE AND OSCEOLA COUNTIES. THIS COMES AFTER THE FLORIDA SUPREME COURT DID SIDE WITH GOVERNOR RON DESANTIS, WHO SUSPENDED HER LAST YEAR IN A VOTE OF 6 TO 1. THE FLORIDA SUPREME COURT SIDED WITH HIM, WHO REMOVED MORALES STATE ATTORNEY LAST YEAR. GOVERNOR DESANTIS HAS CLAIMED MORAL FAILED TO PROSECUTE CRIMES AND DID NOT SEEK MANDATORY MINIMUM SENTENCES FOR GUN CRIMES, PUTTING THE PUBLIC IN DANGER AT A DEMOCRATIC BLACK CAUCUS OF FLORIDA CONFERENCE ON SATURDAY, FORMER AND CURRENT ELECTED OFFICIALS ENDORSED MORALES CAMPAIGN TO RE RUN FOR OFFICE. IF IT CAN HAPPEN TO MONIQUE, IT CAN HAPPEN TO ANY ELECTED OFFICIAL HERE IN THE STATE OF FLORIDA. WE JUST SAW A FORMER PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES WHO WAS CONVICTED ON 34 FELONY CHARGES. AND YET THE RESPONSE FROM REPUBLICANS LIKE RON DESANTIS IS THAT SOMEHOW, JOE JUSTICE AND GOVERNMENT WAS WEAPONIZED TO PUNISH A POLITICAL OPPONENT. WELL, WAS REPLACED BY STATE ATTORNEY ANDREW BEIGNE, WHO WAS APPOINTED BY THE GOVERNOR. WE REACHED OUT TO THE GOVERNOR’S OFFICE THIS WEEKEND FOR COMMENT, BUT HAVE NOT YET HEARD BACK. THOUSANDS FILLED THE DOWNTOWN STREETS FOR THAT RUN SUNDAY. LOOK AT THOSE RUNNERS, WALKERS AND SURVIVORS, ALONG WITH FIRST RESPONDERS SHOWING THEIR LOVE, SUPPORT AND UNITY. ONE MAN TOLD US HE RAN IN HONOR OF HIS RELATIVES WHO WERE KILLED IN THE SHOOTING. EDDIE JUSTICE AND JASON JOSAPHAT. HE WAS PART OF MY FAMILY. I’M HERE TO SUPPORT THEM AND ALL 49 ANGELS STILL LIFTS THEM EVERY DAY. EDDIE’S MOTHER STILL GRIEVING EVERY SINGLE DAY. THE RUN COMES AFTER THE CITY OF ORLANDO ANNOUNCED PLANS TO PUT TOGETHER A COMMITTEE TO WORK TOWARD CREATING A PERMANENT MEMORIAL. THAT COMMITTEE IS SET TO START MEETING NEXT MONTH AND COME UP WITH A DESIGN CONCEPT. BY THE END OF THIS YEAR. COMMITTEE APPLICATION DETAILS CAN BE FOUND ON OUR WEBSITE. JUST GO TO WESH DOT COM. IN MARION COUNTY, HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE AT THE ROCK, THE COUNTRY MUSIC FESTIVAL HAD TO BE TREATED OVER THE WEEKEND. FIRE RESCUE SAYS MORE THAN 125 PEOPLE WERE SEEN FOR A VARIETY OF ISSUES, SOME OF THEM HEAT RELATED. ON SATURDAY, 11 WERE TAKEN TO LOCAL HOSPITALS AND ON FRIDAY, MORE THAN 350 PEOPLE WERE TREATED. 21 OF THOSE PEOPLE WERE TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL. CERTAINLY SOMETHING THAT WE’VE BEEN TALKING ABOUT FOR WEEKS NOW, JUST THAT OPPRESSIVE HEAT. BUT THERE IS SOME CHANGE ON THE WAY. YEAH, YEAH. AND WE NEED IT AFTER THOSE TRIPLE DIGIT FEEL LIKE READINGS OVER THE WEEKEND. ERIC. YEAH. NO DOUBT. TEMPERATURES LIKE 9798 DEGREES WITH FEELS LIKE AT 105, WE’RE GOING TO SLOWLY CHANGE THAT AROUND. SO THIS MORNING IT’S NICE. IT’S WARM CERTAINLY WILL BE TO 92 AGAIN BY LUNCHTIME. AND WE GET HOT. IT’S 96 THIS AFTERNOON. BUT THEN A FEW STORMS GET FIRING UP AND HELP TO CHANGE THINGS AROUND. COOL US DOWN A LITTLE BIT. SATELLITE AND RADAR. NICE AND QUIET FOR NOW. BUT NOTICE ON FUTURECAST AT 11 A.M. BEAUTIFUL SUNSHINE, WARMING ON UP AND THEN BY ONE TWO, 3:00 WE START TO SEE THOSE SHOWERS AND EVEN THOSE THUNDER SHOWERS GETTING GOING. SO THE DARK SKIES AND THAT 40% COVERAGE OF STORMS KICKS ON IN. AND THEN FOR TOMORROW THROUGH THE REST OF THE WEEK, WE KEEP CHANGING IT UP. LET’S CHAT WITH CENTRAL FLORIDA’S CERTIFIED MOST ACCURATE SEVEN DAY FORECAST. WHEN I SEE YOU IN JUST A COUPLE MINUTES. ALL RIGHT, ERIC, IT’S 610 AND WE’RE TRACKING MULTIPLE SHARK ATTACKS JUST MILES APART ON FLORIDA BEACHES. WE’RE STILL FROM A RESEARCH PERSPECTIVE, TRYING TO PUT OUR PUT THE PIECES TOGETHER. EXPERTS ARE LOOKING INTO WHY THIS HAPPENED. PLUS THE WALLS ARE COMING DOWN AT WALT DISNEY WORLD. THE NEW AREA OPENING TODAY, WHERE YOU’RE LOOKING LIVE. YEAH, AT EPCOT, THAT’S ABOUT FIVE YEARS IN THE MAKING. YOU’RE WATCHING WESH 2. WELL, A NEW SUMMER MEAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM IS LAUNCHING IN SOME STATES FOR THE FIRST TIME. AND THIS IS FROM THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE. ELIGIBLE FAMILIES WILL GET EXTRA CASH TO SPEND ON GROCERIES WHILE SCHOOL IS OUT. TYPICALLY, CHILD HUNGER SPIKES IN THE SUMMER MONTHS WHEN IT’S MORE DIFFICULT TO ACCESS MEALS UNDER THE NEW SUN BOX PROGRAM. THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE SAYS FAMILIES WILL GET. $120 PER ELIGIBLE STUDENT DURING THE SUMMER. FAMILIES COULD START SEEING THE MONEY THIS MONTH, BUT PROCESSING DELAYS COULD BE POSSIBLE FOR CHILDREN WHO ARE ELIGIBLE FOR FREE OR REDUCED PRICE. SCHOOL MEALS ARE ELIGIBLE FOR SON BUCKS. AND ONE OF THE GREAT THINGS ABOUT THE PROGRAM IS THAT MANY OF THOSE KIDS WON’T EVEN HAVE TO GO THROUGH AN APPLICATION PROCESS. NOW, THE USDA HAS A SUMMER MEAL SITE FINDER THAT CAN HELP YOU LOCATE WHAT’S AVAILABLE IN YOUR AREA. FLORIDA DOESN’T HAVE THIS FEDERAL FOOD PROGRAM IN PLACE YET, BUT CENTRAL FLORIDA STUDENTS COULD HAVE FREE MEALS OVER THE SUMMER AS WELL. BREAK SPOT OPERATES DOZENS OF LOCATIONS ACROSS OUR AREA AND OFFERS FREE BREAKFAST, LUNCH AND SNACKS. THERE ARE MULTIPLE LOCATIONS IN EVERY COUNTY IN OUR AREA, SO FOR MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THE PROGRAM AND WHERE IT’S OPERATING, YOU CAN HEAD TO WESH.COM. ALL RIGHT. A NEW REPORT FROM SMARTASSET REVEALS TWO COUNTIES IN OUR AREA ARE IN THE TOP TEN FOR THE HIGHEST GDP GROWTH IN THE STATE. ORANGE COUNTY SAW ALMOST $48,000 OF GROWTH IN BREVARD COUNTY, MORE THAN 16,000. SO THIS PUTS THOSE COUNTIES AT FOURTH AND 10TH PLACE IN OUR STATE. MIAMI DADE CAME OUT ON TOP AND IT EVEN RANKED NINTH NATIONWIDE. THIS REPORT LOOKED AT BUSINESS AND GDP GROWTH AND NEW BUILDING PERMITS. ALL RIGHT. GET THIS. ONE FLORIDA STUDENT WAS RECOGNIZED FOR HAVING PERFECT ATTENDANCE. NOT ONCE, NOT TWICE, BUT FOR HER ENTIRE SCHOOL CAREER FROM KINDERGARTEN TO 12TH GRADE. RICKY BLAYLOCK DID NOT MISS A SINGLE DAY OF SCHOOL IN CLAY COUNTY. SHE WAS THE ONLY STUDENT IN HER CLASS TO RECEIVE THIS HONOR, THOUGH THREE OTHER STUDENTS DID ACHIEVE PERFECT ATTENDANCE FROM KINDERGARTEN TO SIXTH GRADE. BUT ALL THOSE YEARS, NEVER ONCE GETTING SICK ENOUGH TO WHERE SHE HAD TO STAY HOME, I LOVE I MEAN, THAT’S AMAZING, I LOVE IT, I GOT TO KNOW THE SECRET TO THAT IMMUNITY. I FEEL LIKE EVEN THROUGH THE PANDEMIC YEARS, 2020, 2021, HOW DID HOW DID SHE MISS IT? NOT MISS IT. YEAH, YEAH. GOOD STUFF. A LOT OF CREDIT. YEAH. TO HER AND HER PARENTS OKAY. 13 CENTRAL FLORIDA STUDENTS ARE GETTING READY TO EMBARK ON THEIR OWN CULINARY JOURNEYS. AND THIS COMES AFTER GRADUATING FROM SECOND HARVEST FOOD BANKS CULINARY TRAINING PROGRAM. THIS IS 16 WEEKS OF INTENSE TRAINING THAT’S FREE TO ELIGIBLE STUDENTS. AND IT TEACHES THEM HANDS ON FOOD PREPARATION ALONG WITH KITCHEN TRAINING GRADUATES ALSO RECEIVE OTHER ASSISTANCE AND CAREER MATCHING SERVICES FOR FIRES CONTINUE TO RAGE IN THE PANTANAL, THE WORLD’S LARGEST TROPICAL WETLAND IN CENTRAL WESTERN BRAZIL. BRAZIL’S NATIONAL INSTITUTE FOR SPACE RESEARCH SHOWS A 980% INCREASE IN THE NUMBER OF FIRES THROUGH JUNE 5TH. EXPERTS SAY A LACK OF RAIN SINCE LATE LAST YEAR DISRUPTED THE USUAL SEASONAL FLOODING AND LEFT MORE OF THE REGION VULNERABLE TO FIRES, AND THE REGION IS NOW HEADING INTO THE RISKIEST SEASON FOR WILDFIRES, WHICH STARTS NEXT MONTH AFTER THREE PEOPLE WERE BITTEN BY SHARKS ON FRIDAY. IN OUR STATE’S PANHANDLE, MANY ARE ASKING HOW THIS HAPPENED. YEAH, AND IT’S STILL UNCLEAR WHAT KIND OF SHARK OR SHARKS MAY HAVE ATTACKED A WOMAN AND TWO TEENAGERS. THESE ATTACKS WERE MILES APART IN THE FORT WALTON BEACH AREA. AS FOR WHY IT HAPPENED, SCIENTISTS SAY IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN A CASE OF MISTAKEN IDENTITY THIS TIME OF THE YEAR. THERE’S QUITE A BIT OF BAIT FISH VERY CLOSE TO THE SHORE, AND SHARKS ARE ATTRACTED TO THAT. IT’S THEIR NORMAL PREY, AND THEN THEY’LL MOVE INSHORE TO FEED ON THAT. SO IT’S JUST ONE OF THESE INCIDENCES WHERE JUST BECAUSE OF, AGAIN, THERE’S A LOT OF BAIT IN THE WATER OR THE VISIBILITY OF THE WATER IS VERY POOR. UM, THAT THE SHARK BECAME CONFUSED AND MISTAKEN A PERSON FOR ITS, FOR ITS NATURAL PREY. ALL THREE PEOPLE BITTEN SURVIVED. ONE WOMAN IS IN THE HOSPITAL, STILL IN CRITICAL CONDITION AFTER HAVING HER ARM AMPUTATED. AND RIGHT NOW, FIRST RESPONDERS ARE WARNING ALL OF US IF WE GO TO THE BEACH, USE CAUTION AFTER THOSE ATTACKS. RIGHT NOW, WALTON COUNTY BEACHES ARE OPEN, BUT LIFEGUARDS ARE FLYING PURPLE FLAGS, WHICH INDICATES THE PRESENCE OF DANGEROUS MARINE LIFE. THOSE FLAGS, ALWAYS IMPORTANT TO TAKE HEED OF WHAT’S BEEN A VERY POPULAR PLACE ALONG OUR COAST, THE BEACH. AND IT’S CERTAINLY SHOWING OFF THIS MORNING, I WOULD THINK SO. THE SKIES HAVE BEEN BEAUTIFUL THE LAST COUPLE OF DAYS, AND FRANKLY, IT’S JUST BEEN HOT. LIKE WE GOT TO DO WHAT WE GOT TO DO TO GET COOL, FOR GOODNESS SAKE. UH, AT LEAST THIS MORNING, THINGS ARE NICE AND QUIET AS YOU CAN SEE. FIRST WARNING, LIVE DOPPLER RADAR. BUT TOMORROW WON’T BE THAT WAY. IT’S GOING TO BE TRACKING SHOWERS AS THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS, BUT BEAUTIFUL. THIS MORNING THERE’S DAYTONA BEACH LOOKING GOOD 73 DEGREES. OUR CURRENT TEMPERATURE, THAT PESKY SOUTHWEST WIND, HAS BEEN THROWING IN A LOT OF HEAT AND HUMIDITY. AND YOU SEE IT THIS MORNING, 77, IN SANFORD IN ORLANDO, THE LUCKY SPOTS ARE UP TO THE NORTH PALM COAST AT 71, WHERE IT’S 69 NOW IN OCALA, OUR FIRST WARNING LIVE DOPPLER RADAR IS SHOWING A CLEAR SKY FROM COAST TO COAST. SO WE ARE LOOKING GOOD OUT THERE. BUT NOTICE THROUGH THE DAY WE DO GET A COUPLE OF SHOWERS AND STORMS IN AS MORE MOISTURE ATMOSPHERICALLY WORKS OUR DIRECTION. NOW TEMPERATURES ARE GOING TO BE WARMING JUST LIKE YESTERDAY, 92 LUNCHTIME, 96 DEGREES. OUR HIGH TEMPERATURE. BUT AS THOSE STORMS GET BUBBLING UP, WE’LL BE ABLE TO COOL THINGS OFF A LITTLE BIT BY LITTLE BIT. SO WHERE DO WE GO FOR HIGHS TODAY? 96 IN ORLANDO, 97 IN CLAREMORE AT 97 IN DELAND 98 DEGREES I THINK UP IN PALM COAST IT’S GOING TO BE A REAL HOT DAY FOR FOR SO MANY PEOPLE. AND EVEN IN OUR COASTAL COMMUNITIES TO MID TO UPPER 90S. NOW HERE’S FUTURECAST KIND OF TIMING OUT THE RAIN BEGINNING AROUND 1 P.M. SPOTTY SHOWER TO SOME CLOUDS AROUND BY 3 P.M. WE’LL BUBBLE UP SOME THUNDERSTORMS, WORK THEM OFF TO THE EAST AND THEN KIND OF REORGANIZE SOME STUFF AROUND, SAY SEVEN, EIGHT, 9:00. BUT MAINLY FROM ABOUT I-4 OFF TO THE SOUTH AND EAST. IN TERMS OF LOCATION. SO FOR TODAY, THE RAIN CHANCE IS HIGHEST THERE. LOOK AT TOMORROW, MANY MORE LOCATIONS GETTING LOTS OF RAIN AROUND. AS A MATTER OF FACT, TODAY THE LOWEST COVERAGE OF RAIN THE NEXT FEW DAYS 80% COVERAGE OF RAIN FOR TUESDAY THURSDAY. IT’S A 90% COVERAGE OF RAIN. SO WHAT’S GOING ON? RIGHT. THERE’S A LOT OF MOISTURE DOWN TO THE SOUTH INTO THE CARIBBEAN. AND ALL OF THAT MOISTURE IS ESSENTIALLY LIFTING IN OUR DIRECTION. SO FOR THIS WEEK, CLOUDY SKIES WITH POCKETS OF RAIN, GUSTY WINDS AT TIMES. NOT TOO BAD. NOT A HURRICANE, ANYTHING LIKE THAT, BUT A LITTLE BREEZY. DOWNPOURS AND THUNDERSTORMS ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE WEEKEND. FRANKLY, WE’RE WATCHING TO SEE IF THIS IS GOING TO HELP OUR DROUGHT. AND IN SOUTH FLORIDA’S CASE, THERE’S EVEN THE POTENTIAL FOR SOME FLOODING RAINS. NOW, BOTH THE EUROPEAN AND THE GFS MODELS. WE USE THIS A LOT ON THE FORECASTING SIDE OF THINGS, SHOWING A BUNCH OF RAIN. THE EUROPEAN THOUGH, IS SHOWING A SHARP CUT OFF FROM THE FLOODING RAINS OF SOUTH FLORIDA TO OUR AREA. WHEREAS THE GFS IS BEING MORE LENIENT. BUT I GOT TO BE HONEST, I’VE SEEN THIS KIND OF PATTERN PLAY OUT MANY TIMES IN THE DECADES OF FORECASTING, AND WE CERTAINLY COULD SEE 2 TO 4, EVEN FIVE INCHES OF RAIN EASILY. SO WE’LL BE WATCHING. AND OF COURSE, KEEPING YOU UP TO DATE TODAY IT IS HOT, HOT, HOT WITH A COUPLE OF STORMS, THEN LOTS OF RAIN THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS. MEGAN GOOD MORNING ERIC. YEAH, UNFORTUNATELY THIS MORNING THOSE ROADS ARE NICE AND DRY FOR YOUR MONDAY MORNING COMMUTE, SO NO WEATHER IMPACTS FOR YOUR MONDAY MORNING DRIVE. HEADING OUT THE DOOR RIGHT NOW. ALSO NO CRASHES. THIS IS A LIVE LOOK. OUR CHOPPER UP AND CRUISING LIV HERE OVER I-4 IN SANFORD, HEADING TOWARDS THE SAINT JOHNS RIVER. SO NO BIG DELAYS ALONG THE ENTIRE STRETCH OF I-4 AND LOOKING LIVE IN MARION COUNTY. THIS IS I-75. THERE WAS A LITTLE BIT OF CONSTRUCTION EARLIER THIS MORNING, CLOSE TO COUNTY ROAD 484, NEAR THOSE ON AND OFF RAMPS, BUT YOU CAN SEE NO LANES BLOCKED. THIS MORNING IN EITHER DIRECTION. IN OUR TRAVEL TIMES ACROSS THE BOARD ARE STILL IN THE GREEN. THIS IS LOOKING IN SEMINOLE COUNTY FROM LAKE MARY BOULEVARD TO PRINCETON STREET. WE’RE AT 13 MINUTES WESTBOUND AND EASTBOUND JASON. ALL RIGHT. WE LIKE TO SEE AN EASY MORNING DRIVE ON OUR MONDAY. WNBA STAR CAITLIN CLARK WILL NOT BE IN PARIS THIS SUMMER. WHAT SHE’S NOW TRYING TO ACCOMPLISH BY THE 2028 SUMMER GAMES. A massive fire broke out at a four-story apartment complex in Miami on Monday morning.
Firefighters and police officers arrived at the building just west of Interstate 95 near downtown Miami after receiving calls about a fire around 8:15 a.m., and began rescuing residents from the building’s balconies, Miami Mayor Francis Suarez said during a news conference.
Suarez said arriving first responders also found a man with gunshot wounds at the scene. He was taken to a hospital, where he was in critical condition. Officials said the shooting is part of an active investigation. They offered few other details.
The mayor said two firefighters were taken to a hospital due to heat exhaustion, and both were in stable condition.
Miami police officials said this was “an isolated incident,” meaning there is no gunman at large.
News helicopters showed flames rising from the building along with large plumes of smoke several hours after the fire started. At least two ladder trucks were pouring water and foam onto the building.
The Temple Court apartment complex is made up of one-bedroom and studio units near the Miami River.
Residents from the building, many of them elderly, were taken to a staging area where they were offered food and any medications they needed, Suarez said.
Smoke from the fire was also drifting over Interstate 95, and much of downtown Miami.
It was not immediately known whether anyone was injured in the fire.
