TEN THINGS TO KNOW

1. This will be the second meeting in history between Kansas City and Boston. The first meeting was a 1-0 Current win at CPKC Stadium on May 30 where forward Temwa Chawinga scored the game-winner in the 69th minute.

2. Kansas City has won its last eight meetings with NWSL newcomers. The team has kept a clean sheet in the last five meetings against NWSL newcomers, including two this season: a 1-0 home win over Boston on May 30 and a 3-0 road win vs. Denver on July 3.

3. Entering Week 14, midfielder Croix Bethune is tied for first in the NWSL with six regular season assists and Chawinga ranks second on the Golden Boot leaderboard with nine goals and two assists.

4. Bethune had a goal and an assist vs. San Diego last Friday for the second time this year. That is tied with five other NWSL players for the most such games this season.

5. Bethune is the only player in NWSL history to have four or more assists in multiple regular seasons. Her six regular season assists so far in 2026 equal the Current single-season club record, first set by Izzy Rodriguez in 2025.

6. Rookie defender Laney Rouse recorded the first assist of her professional career last week vs. San Diego. Rouse has started eight of her 11 regular season games this season, and she has logged a full 90 minutes in each of her eight starts.

7. Midfielder Debinha is five minutes away from becoming the seventh player in KC Current history to reach 5,000 regular season minutes for the club. Her next regular season assist will make her the first player in NWSL history to reach 20 goals/10 assists for two different clubs.

8. Midfielder Vanessa DiBernardo is one game away from becoming the 13th player in club history to reach 50 regular season appearances for Kansas City. The next KC Current win she plays in will be her 100th career regular season victory, becoming the fourth player in NWSL history to reach that milestone.

9. Chawinga is currently with the Malawi Women’s National Team at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), taking place in Morocco from July 26 to Aug. 16. The tournament serves as the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifier for African nations. This is Chawinga’s first appearance for the Scorchers since Feb. 2025.

10. The Kansas City Current has extended goalkeeper Kaylin Williams-Mosier’s short-term contract for an additional month. Williams-Mosier joined the Current in June as a goalkeeper replacement player. The Kansas City native had most recently been on the KC Current II roster.
