The move comes as Kum & Go stations across Iowa rebrand as Maverik locations.

DES MOINES, Iowa — Shortly after Kum & Go signs and branding started to come down across Iowa and Maverik logos went up, the “Adventure’s First Stop” company announced the consolidation of its headquarters. A “limited presence” will remain at its Des Moines corporate office, the company said.

Maverik’s main office is currently located in Salt Lake City, which is where corporate services will be further concentrated to improve efficiency, according to the company. Maverick established a regional headquarters in Des Moines in 2023, shortly after it acquired Kum & Go.

The move, which Maverick called a “difficult decision,” affects a currently unknown number of Des Moines employees. Maverik said it is “committed to supporting them with transparency and care throughout this transition.”

Individual plans and relocation opportunities are reportedly being made available to the employees.

As of Wednesday night, the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (WARN) report, which lists layoffs and closings, does not show any activity by the company.

Full statement from Maverik:

As part of our ongoing efforts to improve efficiency and better serve our growing customer base, Maverik has made the difficult decision to consolidate its Base Camp headquarters in Salt Lake City. A limited presence will remain in Des Moines to support geographically based business needs.

We are currently working closely with impacted Team Members to develop individual plans, including relocation opportunities, and are committed to supporting them with transparency and care throughout this transition.
