Traveling to New York City? You’ll soon have a new way to get there from Memphis.
Delta Air Lines announced May 3 that it will launch nonstop service between Memphis International Airport (MEM) and John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in New York City. The flight will operate daily, with service starting Sept. 8.
The New York City market is the Memphis airport’s second largest, with 352 passengers traveling daily each way between the two cities, according to a news release from the airport.
“We are excited to see Delta’s continued expansion at MEM,” said Michael Keeney, chairman of the Board of Commissioners for Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority. “The addition of JFK service provides our passengers with another option to the New York City area and expands connectivity to Europe and other international destinations.”
The JFK flight, which will use a 76-seat Embraer 175 aircraft, brings Delta’s number of destinations at Memphis International Airport to nine. It also provides service to Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Detroit, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, New York (LaGuardia Airport) and Salt Lake City. The Memphis-Austin flight will launch May 7.
