Williamsburg, Va. – The Stevens Institute of Technology men’s golf team opened its spring season Saturday at The Ruckus.

The Ducks’ “A” Team is tied for fourth with the University of Hartford at 13-over, while the “B” Team is tied for eighth with Nazareth at 28-over. Salisbury leads the field at 1-over through 18 holes, followed by Drew at 4-over. Individually, first-year Jack Harris is tied for first with Salisbury’s Ryan Henneman and Saint Vincent’s Matthew Edwards at 2-under.

HOW IT HAPPENED

After carding a 37 on the front nine, highlighted by birdies on holes three and six, Harris bounced back with a bogey-free 33 on the back. He added birdies on the par-four 12th, par-five 14th, and par-three 16th.

Sebastian Beaver finished at 3-over, tied for 15th, and totaled four birdies on the day. After shooting 2-over on the front, he was one shot better on the back and posted back-to-back birdies on 14 and 15.

Luke Snyder finished one stroke behind Beaver at 4-over with three birdies. He played holes 13 through 18 at 2-under, recording birdies on 14 and 17.

Ben Slicker and Noah Eide each finished at 6-over. Slicker played the back nine at even par, while Eide recorded his lone birdie of the round on the par-five 14th. Arav Tank rounded out the “A” Team lineup with a 10-over round that included three birdies, including back-to-back efforts on holes seven and eight.

Alex Carey led the “B” Team with a 4-over round, good for a tie for 18th. Like Tank, Carey birdied both seven and eight on his way to an even-par 36 on the front nine.

Brock Dickson, Udyat Sarangdevot, and Dillon Kim each carded rounds of 8-over. Dickson birdied the par-three 10th, while Kim birdied the par-four second. Bryce Karty completed the Stevens lineup with a 13-over round that included a birdie on the par-five seventh.

INSIDE THE SCORECARD

Harris’ 70 marked a season low, topping the 71 he shot during the opening round of the Ursinus Season Opener in September.
