HAMILTON — The NCAA announced its 18-team field for the men’s lacrosse tournament Sunday evening.
The field includes 10 automatic qualifiers and eight at large bids chosen by the selection committee. Colgate (10-7, 4-4) will head to No. 5 seed Penn State to take on the Nittany Lions for the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Saturday at 5 p.m.
The Raiders clinched an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament with a 17-10 win over Boston University in the Patriot League title game Sunday afternoon. Colgate won the conference title and returns to the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2015.
The Raiders have played PSU the last two years in the regular season. Colgate fell 14-9 to Penn State in their season opener on Feb. 1. The Raiders shocked the then No. 4 ranked Nittany Lions 13-12 to open the 2024 campaign after Liam Connor scored his first career goal with four seconds remaining.
Colgate will meet the Nittany Lions for the 26th time Saturday. The Raiders hold a 10-15 record all-time against PSU.
The winner of Saturday’s game will play the winner of Notre Dame vs. Ohio State.
