Ahead of the long Memorial Day weekend, and closer to the traditional summer driving season, Miami drivers received some additional good news at the gas pump, with the average price of a regular gallon of gas dropping another 1.3 cents over the last week.
The average price in Miami-Dade County as of Sunday was $3.48 per gallon, which is 13.3 cents per gallon lower than a month ago, while still more expensive, by 1 cent per gallon, than a year ago.
According to the gas prices tracking website and app GasBuddy’s survey of 1,690 stations in Miami the lowest price in the area Sunday was $2.92 per gallon, while the highest was $4.99 per gallon. The price of regular gas on Key Biscayne was $4.79 per gallon last week.
“The news continues to be good for motorists ahead of Memorial Day, with gasoline prices again falling, making it four straight weeks of declines for the national average as we get closer to the start of the summer driving season,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.
Nationally, the average price of gasoline fell 3.5 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $3.55 as of Sunday.
