Penix suffered a bone bruise on his ankle during Sunday’s loss to the 49ers.
The Atlanta Falcons entered their Week 7 game against the San Francisco 49ers with a few notable injuries and left with a few more. Quarterback Michael Penix Jr. suffered a bone bruise on his ankle and linebacker Divine Deablo fractured his forearm during Sunday’s 20-10 loss.
Falcons head coach Raheem Morris gave an update on Penix while addressing the media on Wednesday. Morris said that Penix would be limited at practice to begin preparation for Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins.
“Mike had the bone bruise, so that’s day-to-day,” Morris said of his starting quarterback. “Obviously he’ll be out there in a limited capacity today.”
Morris also said the team would be designating offensive tackle Storm Norton to return from the injured reserve list, opening his 21-day practice window.
As for Deablo, Morris said he expects him to be out for some time and that the injured reserve list was still a possibility. Deablo has been one the team’s most productive defensive players this season, and he should be out for a few weeks at the very least with a forearm fracture.
Watch Morris’ full Wednesday press conference below, and check back for the team’s first injury report of Week 8 later this afternoon.
The Falcons will face the Miami Dolphins this weekend at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The Dolphins have lost six of their seven games this season while Atlanta is coming off a Week 7 loss to the 49ers. Sunday’s game kicks off at 1 p.m. ET in Atlanta.
